Guest Artist Angelo Cassanello Bueno at East Texas A&M University

The Roaring Bones Trombone Studio will host guest artist Angelo Cassanello Bueno for a visit to East Texas A&M University. He is the will present a masterclass and and will perform recital on Friday, February 21st. I am honored to perform with him and pianist Laura Maxwell, along with members of the trombone studio.

About the Event

Angelo Cassanello Bueno, Professor of Trombone at the University of Chile, presents "To the South of the South: Poetry and Melody," a recital exploring the melodic traditions of Chilean and South American folk music.

This performance-lecture project introduces North American students and audiences to this rich musical heritage through trombone, piano, and trombone ensemble arrangements. The program highlights the characteristic rhythms, harmonies, and timbres of Chile and South America, emphasizing the lyrical nature of the music. Each piece is contextualized with discussions of the style's unique features and the influence of the natural environment on its development, offering insights into the melodies and their authentic interpretation.

About the Artist

Angelo Cassanello Bueno is Professor of Trombone at the University of Chile, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. He has participated as a student and teacher in various festivals in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia, Guatemala, and the United States. He specializes in chamber music and contemporary music of sound experimentation. Angelo is a Shires Artist
